Owen Yours Truly
Thanks for stopping by my photography blog. If you haven’t had a chance to check out my website, please take a moment to visit: http://owenphotographie.com
In the meantime, I want to share with you a little bit about me. By doing so, I hope you will get a sense of who I am and feel comfortable enough to introduce yourself as well.
My name is Owen, its a guy’s name I know but it works for me. As beautiful as Rowena (real name) sounds, I respond to Owen a lot better…don’t ask me why.
I am a photographer, a single mom to two beautiful kids: Josh and Troy, a daughter to Gus and Gina, a sister to Roxy and Drew, a sister-in-law to Jeff and last but not least, a friend. How many times have I found myself staring at a fork in the road and whether or not I have made the right choices, my family has always been behind me, supporting me, loving me. I am thankful to them for sticking it out with me through both sunshines and storms.
I am creative. Life without creativity is like a brook with no water, a tree with no roots. But photography was not my first creative endeavor. I grew up playing the organ, a little bit of piano but most of all dance. I was married to my dance…Most of my childhood was spent in dance studios, amidst tattered tights and smelly, sweaty hallways. A knee injury ended a short ballet career but opened up doors for street jazz and folkdancing. I was a member of two dance companies in the Philippines (where I was born and raised) , traveled and performed in concerts and television. I hung up my jazz boots when my family immigrated to Canada in 1996 where I focused solely on finishing university, raising my 2-yr old son and starting over. In 2005, a year after the birth of my second son, I picked up my first DSLR and I knew right there that I am back “home”, reunited with my creative soul…
I am respectful, loyal, honest, openminded and hardworking. These are values I hold dear and something that you can expect from me. I believe that these are ingredients to a successful relationship: be it a friendship, family or business relationship. I am thankful to my parents for instilling this in me and I intend to pass these on to my kids by example.
I am strong. We are never given a cross too big nor too heavy for us to carry. Being a mom at such a young age and all the other challenges that came my way afterwards taught me to look at a glass always half full. I welcome every challenge that comes my way because I know I can turn those into opportunities for growth.
I am in love. I am in love with life, my kids and the people I photograph. There is always something so magical and beautiful with the couples, families and kids I meet. They are nothing short of amazing!!!
So that’s it… Please don’t be shy and reach out to me. So now that you know a little about me, feel free to say hi, introduce yourself, and let me know how I may help you. This is my home on the web and you are all welcome!
